Alhamdulillah, many of you have been joining us each day for Taraweeh in our beautiful, purpose-built masjid (City Jami’ Masjid). We thought we would share something from the archives which many of you will remember well.
In 2005 The Islamic Academy of Manchester (formerly at Upper Brook st) was closed for 3 months as the council deemed the roof of the adjoining former Welsh Baptist Church unsafe and demolition work was carried out to remove the roof. Ramadan was fast approaching and there was concern about loss of prayer facilities during this important time. Alhamdulillah, following negotiations the council arranged for a marquee to be erected in the car park of the academy and the marquee was used throughout Ramadhan of that year. It was a real experience especially doing wudhu in the portable units with freezing cold water during October and November!
Below are some photos from 2005.
