City Jamia Masjid Re-Opening 4th July

Alhamdulillah City Jamia Masjid will be re-opening on 4th July 2020 for congregational (jamaat) prayers only.

In line with our risk assessment in relation to COVID-19, the following guidance must be followed to ensure the safety of all attendees. Please familiarise yourself with these arrangements prior to attending the masjid.

The Masjid will issue further guidance for Jumuah salaah, which will be published on our website (www.islamicacademy.eu)

Guidance Notes

The registration is important for us to manage numbers and also ensure we can help prevent a local outbreak. There will be an opportunity to register on arrival. If you register in advance, please have your barcode with you on your smartphone.

For Jumuah salah, we will release separate links closer to the time with the various Jamaat times (multiple, separate congregations are planned).

Arrival at the masjid

  • Upon arrival, you will be asked to use the hand sanitiser in the foyer.
  • We will then perform a temperature check. If you have a high temperature, you will be turned away for everyone’s safety.
  • You will be asked to scan yourself in using your Eventbrite ticket or to register upon arrival (if there is still capacity).
  • As shoe racks will not be accessible, you must take a bag that will be provided for your shoes or you can bring your own shoe bag with you.
  • Please be patient and adhere to the 2m marks on the carpet. Do not try and rush ahead.
  • The masjid will open 10 minutes before each salah and the doors will be closed one minute before jamaat beginning. Please read your sunnah and nafil salah at home.

Entering the Prayer Hall and Praying

  • Please follow the arrows filling the front row first.
  • There are 6 rows, each labelled A-F. Ensure that you listen to staff and volunteers and ensure that you do not go against the one way system and make sure you fill the space
  • On entering the prayer hall, proceed as instructed by the Masjid volunteers, place your prayer mat where indicated by the floor markings.
  • Do not attempt to access any Qurans or other kitabs from the bookcases.
  • Adhere to all signage around the Masjid and any instructions provided by the Masjid volunteers.
  • If the Masjid is at full capacity or you arrive after the commencement of the Jamaat, you will not be permitted to enter the Masjid.

Exiting the masjid

  • When there is a large capacity, the Imam will ask one row at a time to leave. Please listen carefully and follow instructions.
  • Exit is via the one-way system out to the Stockport Road entrance.
  • Be patient and adhere to social distancing of at least 2 metres at all times following the stickers on the carpet, when exiting.
  • Do not gather at the exit, or in the vicinity of the Masjid.

Sisters Area

  • Unfortunately, the sisters area is currently closed due to building work. Whilst we cannot provide facilities for congregational salah, we will aim provide space to pray for any sister who wishes to pray at the masjid insha’Allah.
  • Please bear with us. Once our building work is complete, we will have the large space for sisters in any mosque in the North West and beyond insha’Allah!

Use of Car Park

  • Please follow all social distancing guidance if using the masjid car park.

Important Health Notes

You must not attend the Masjid if:

  • You or any member of your household display any COVID-19 symptoms as stated at www.nhs.uk (which include, a high temperature, a new, continuous cough or a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste), or if you are required to self-isolate in accordance with government guidance. For example, if you:
  • or a family member have recently had any COVID-19 symptoms;
  • have recently returned from overseas; or
  • have been asked to self-isolate by the NHS test and trace service.
  • We strongly advise that you do not attend the Masjid if:
    • you have an underlying medical condition that puts you at a higher risk of severe disease from COVID-19;
    • you are aged 70 or over;
    • you are aged 13 or under.
